Marvin Klinkle creates hilarious and heroic comic books, including Captain Pizza-Face, the superhero who saves the day using melted cheese and crust-based shields.
Marvin was born on February 6, 1980, in Zap City, Illinois. When he was little, he drew superheroes on everything—even his math homework. He liked making sound effects with his mouth and pretending his lunchbox was a spaceship. As a student, he was in trouble almost every day of school.
Today, Marvin works with artists to bring his wacky ideas to life. He teaches comic book workshops at libraries and has a pet turtle named Zappy who sometimes shows up in his stories. Marvin is still alive and drawing every day.
Marvin’s comics have been published in magazines, online, and in book form. They’re especially popular with kids who love action and jokes at the same time. He’s helped kids see that anyone can be creative, even with just a pencil and an idea.
He once tried to invent a real cape that made “whoosh” noises.
His favorite superhero power is “Mega Burrito Blast.”
