Froggerfly
Froggerfly
The Froggerfly is a fascinating creature that looks exactly like a frog with a pair of large insect-like wings. Its strong back legs help it leap from branch to branch, while its colorful wings allow it to glide and fly through the forest canopy. Froggerflies come in many shades of green, brown, and yellow, helping them blend in with leaves and tree bark.
They spend most of their time hanging upside down from tree branches, watching the world around them. Froggerflies especially enjoy dark places and are most active at night.
The Froggerfly was discovered by Angie Cleverton while exploring a forest. One evening, she noticed a strange shape hanging from a tree branch. At first, she thought it was a frog taking a nap.
Suddenly, the creature jumped from the branch. Before it hit the ground, a pair of wings unfolded from its sides and it flew away through the trees. Angie followed it and soon found dozens more hanging from branches overhead. Scientists later named the species Froggerfly because of its unique combination of frog-like hopping and flying.
Froggerflies live high in the trees of forests and woodlands. They love hanging from branches and can often be found resting in groups among thick leaves. They especially enjoy:
Tall trees
Dark forests
Shady branches
Areas with lots of insects
Froggerflies prefer the pitch black and are rarely seen during bright daylight hours.
The Froggerfly has a very unusual diet. It enjoys:
Roly-polies
Small insects
Birthday candles
Scientists are still trying to understand why Froggerflies love chewing on birthday candles so much. Some believe they enjoy the wax, while others think they simply like the smell.
Froggerflies move in a unique way. They:
Hop like a frog.
Spread their wings while in midair.
Fly to their next destination.
Although they are excellent jumpers, they cannot jump as high as Duckos.
A famous Froggerfly named Kevin, age 82, ate 46 mega birthday candles in 5 minutes and 28 seconds.
Froggerflies love staring at clocks between 1:00 and 5:00. Even if the clock is covered, they will continue staring at the same spot.
They prefer complete darkness.
One Froggerfly became trapped in a vent and survived there for 9 years.
They can fly, but they always begin by hopping first.
One time, a person named Big Bubba spotted a Froggerfly and immediately started crying.
